Entry-Level Hiring Is Shrinking. Should HR Be Concerned?
Entry-level job postings have fallen to their lowest point since 2021. This makes it harder for early career candidates to access work and narrows the future talent pipeline.
For HR professionals, this is a workforce planning issue, not just a hiring trend.
When junior roles disappear, organisations lean more heavily on experienced hires. That often leads to higher recruitment costs, longer hiring cycles, and less control over how skills develop.
It can also slow progress on diversity, as many careers start through entry-level routes.
This is where internal mobility matters. If fewer people join at the bottom, you need clearer pathways for people already in the business to step up, reskill, or move sideways.
Small internal moves can protect future capability and improve retention.
